ABOUT SIRIUS ABOUT SIRIUS

A day of SIRIUS

A day of SIRIUS

For a better understanding of how we work, we will run you through a typical day at SIRIUS from the point of view of a new hire.

My day starts with cleaning up, so I can get to work feeling refreshed.
I set to my tasks while teaching the interns what to do.

I spend lunch time with the rest of our staff.
Nowadays, our staff comes from all over the world so it’s quite interesting to learn about various cultures. As there are so many things I don’t know about design, lunch time is a good chance to ask questions of the senior staff. Listening to them recall stories about their on-site experiences provides daily motivation.

I create drawings following the directions given by my manager or work on making night view images using CG. There are so many things to learn by completing these tasks.

I set up for work for next day and then I go home.

For a better understanding of how we work, we will run you through a typical day at SIRIUS from the point of view of a mid-career employee.

I check emails and make phone calls to project stakeholders as necessary.
I supervise my juniors and occasionally give them advice.
Sometimes I have meetings to go to in the morning.

I go for lunch near the station from time to time.
My mind is refreshed walking outside with my colleagues and feeling the changing of the seasons.
I’m constantly on the lookout for good new restaurants.

I verify lighting effects using models.
I order the necessary equipment and materials to be used on-site and check the distribution and tone of lighting.
I occasionally call the manufacturer in to run tests.

I ask the chief designer to look over the documents I’ve made.
We have serious discussions over how to make them better.

For a better understanding of how we work, we will run you through a typical day at SIRIUS from the point of view of a senior-level employee.

I check emails while drinking a cup of coffee.
I have meetings with staff members to check the progress of their work, double-check documents for the day’s meetings, and run through how the meetings should go in my head.

I go to the project site to check up on things and make sure everything is in order. If something has been missed, I make decisions to address the problem. This is the time to employ the professional knowledge and skills I’ve acquired over my career to achieve the project vision.

I return to the office and check my staff’s drawings.
Checking for mistakes and going back to review these drawings sometimes gives me new design ideas.

Night is the time for lighting to shine.
I may be scheduled for an on-site check or adjustment, but when there is nothing scheduled, I think about lighting in silence until I feel satisfied.
