2020年東京オリンピックに向けて開発が進む有明に新築された、8000人を収容する国内最大級の劇場型イベントホール。
赤い殻に包まれたホールから溢れ出す人々のエネルギーが、ホワイエから屋外へと広がる様を光によって可視化してみせた。屋内は、不特定多数の人々が集まる施設として求められる明るさと均斉度を確保しつつ、意匠性と省エネ性をも高めたバランス感覚に卓れた計画としている。
隣接する建物と共有する屋外ガレリアでは、ステージのような照明演出を行い、誰もが利用できる屋外劇場を創り出した。イベントホールのゲストだけでなく、近隣の建物を訪れた家族連れや子供たちをも喜ばせ、オリンピック前後も多くの人々で賑わう場となっている。
Tokyo Garden Theater is a theater-style events center with a capacity of 8,000 that was newly built ahead of the 2020 Olympics. The energy that radiates out from the people in the auditorium to the outside through the foyer was visualized through light. Interior lighting ensures the brightness and uniformity of light needed by guests with a balance between design and energy savings. Lighting effects in a breezeway connecting the building to adjacent structures create an open-air theater that all can enjoy. By entertaining not only theater guests, but all who visit the space, it has become a lively place.
