トヨタ車内装の繊維素材を製造するトヨタ紡織の創業100周年を記念して新築された本社ビル。エントランスロビーには、日本伝統文化である「きり紙」の技法を取り入れた布によって表現された光天井を計画し、隣接する打合せスペースには、繊維素材の原点である繭（コクーン）をLEDによる光の螺旋で表現した。これらの光には、空間のアートピースでもありながら照明装置として十分な機能をもたせると共に、世界に誇る日本の伝統技術と、常に挑戦し続ける企業の先進性を象徴するものとした。来訪者へ企業のアイデンティティを伝えるだけでなく、働く人たちが自社への愛着と誇りを持つに相応しい空間を作り出した。
The new headquarters Toyota Boshoku, which manufactures textile materials for Toyota automobiles, was built for the centennial anniversary of its foundation. A luminous ceiling that incorporates traditional Japanese “kirigami” paper-art techniques was designed for the entrance lobby, while a spiral “cocoon” of LED lights in an adjoining meeting space represents the origin of textile materials. These lights are both functional lighting devices and art pieces that symbolize Japanese traditional techniques and the innovative spirit of the company. They show the company’s corporate identity to visitors, and create a space where staff can feel attachment and pride in their company.
