旧戸畑区役所庁舎を、図書館として再生させたリファイニング建築。日中を主として使用する施設であるために、内外の明るさのバランスが保たれるよう考慮した。メインの図書エリアでは、大きさの異なる正方形の光がランダムに配置され、設備類との間に生じたレイヤーが、空間を調和させている。耐震補強の要となる、特徴的なアーチフレームはあえて照らさず、建築的な力強い美しさを最大限引き出している。
This was a bare-bones rebuild to recycle the old Tobata ward o?ce into a library. As the facility will be used mainly in the daytime, we wanted to maintain a balance of brightness inside and out. In the main stacks variously-sized square lights are randomly installed. The layer of lights created between equipment harmonizes the space. As the distinctive arch frame functions as the core of seismic strengthening, we purposefully avoided illuminating it in order to maximize the architecturally dynamic beauty.
此專案為以現存的市政大樓重建成圖書館的再生建築完善計劃。由於此設施的主要使用時間為日間，我們考慮到要保持?外的亮度平衡。在主要的圖書區域?隨機地置有不同大小的正方形光圈，並與設備之間所形成的層次一同調和整個空間。而作為耐震補強的重點、具特?的拱頂框架則反倒不打亮，從而最大限度地引導出建築物強而有力的美感。
