NOUSAKU Office&Factory

NOUSAKU is a new office/foundry located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. It includes the NOUSAKU factory where they manufacture and sell cast pieces and their showroom. In the hall, where there is a shop and a cafe, the dynamically inclined louvered ceiling is broadly and beautifully illuminated by uplights positioned according to precise CG simulation.
Also, in the finishing room where visitors can see the process of craftsmen making a casting, the lighting was designed to be well-balanced between functional light for the craftsmen to work under and presentational light for the visitors to watch them. We dramatically illuminated the ceiling of the wide-open two-story atrium space like a gymnasium to spread comfortable indirect light over the whole space and designed individual lighting to optimize the workability of each work space. Thus we created a dynamic lighting environment that combines both task and ambient lighting.
